This week wasn’t all disappointment though! I had put an ISO on Ravelry for one of my “unicorn” spindles, a Jenkins with the Four Seasons design, and someone contacted me about wanting to destash one this week! I still can’t quite believe it, but I suppose now that I have the spindle in my hands it’s a little easier. It’s even made from holly, one of my favorite woods (and my Celtic Astrology tree). Not the greatest week garden-wise. One of my blueberries has wilt that I think has spread to the crown (and will kill the plant) and my Japanese Indigo just sort of gave up and died. Fortunately I was able to save some of the leaves and dry them for use later. *sigh* . . . . . [Image: jar of dark green Japanese Indigo leaves]

Anyone have any ideas what’s eating my elderberries? I think it’s a type of leaftier caterpillar but so far my attempts to ID it further have failed. . . . . . . [Image: Elderberry leaves tied together with caterpillar silk and green caterpillar]

Not much notable this week, but I did move the cotton out to the porch and am trying to sort through at least a handful (removing undeveloped seeds, hulls, and plant matter) each time I take the dogs out. I think that’s about all that’s worth noting that happened in July. I’m still working on my Tea Sweater and my Ripple Bralette but they’re at awkward points so no progress photos. Still having way too many doctors appointments per month, and still trying my best. You know, all that stuff. . . . . . [Image: Black dog laying under coreopsis bush on brown mulch]

The dye plants are still growing, though the Japanese Indigo isn’t liking the heat we’ve had, and the Madder seems to attract things that like to eat the leaves. . . . . . . [Image: green leafhopper on green madder leaf]
