Tour de Fleece 2018: Half-way There!

We’ve reached the halfway point of the Tour de Fleece, and here’s how my projects are going:

Brown cotton on a spinning wheel bobbinSchacht Matchless wheel with wrist distaff hanging from it.

The wheel spin is going incredibly well. I’m almost done with the first bobbin (I hope to finish it tomorrow) and hope to finish the second by the end of the tour. I’m also really loving using my wrist distaff with the wheel to keep the fiber manageable.

Five support spindles next to a pile of white cotton punis

The white cotton supported spin is also going well. I’m finding I’m able to do less spinning on this per day than the other ones so I may not be able to finish this by the end of the tour, but that’s okay. I’m enjoying it.

Two turkish spindles in front of a wrist distaff with brown cotton on it.

I decided to start on a second spindle for the gradient spin after the first one became too heavy. I’m maybe 2/3rds of the way through the spin and enjoying it as well.

Turkish spindle surrounded by skein of white yarn.

Itty Bitty Spin was a ton of fun and I ended up with 8.5 yards of thread weight yarn.

Red and Grey skeins of yarn on tan background.

The first challenge spin went well too and I’m planning to write a whole post about it at the end of the tour. I’ve also selected the scraps I plan on using for my next challenge spin.
